Manchinta Moreno
Private portrait – 100 years old lady with her flowers
Mr. Moreno, one of the son of Mrs. Maxima Ruiz has contacted me to immortalize (and these were his words) what would be a representative portrait of his mother’s last years. Mrs. Manchita likes to sing, he told me, and she loves flowers.
The location was her house, a beautiful house of architecture and furniture from the 60s. She showed me her favorite places, like this armchair and the wall full of portraits of an extended family that one day was all together.
During the photoshoot we laughed together, we hugged each other, she sung with passion and I portrayed her.
Doña Manchita singing a bolero
It was like being with a little girl full of wisdom. Her eyes had many emotions or sometimes none at all. She played hide and seek among the flowers. I portrayed her.
Doña Manchita died on October 18, 2020 at the age of 101.she left a lot of legacies and an empty chair.
